Set Fire To It is Rye Maldonado

I was drawn to pottery as a tangible, physically demanding craft; to making objects that have both utility and beauty; and to having a reason to use a blowtorch on a semi-regular basis. The objects we use daily inevitably absorb our memories and sentiments – that bowl you use exclusively for ice cream, your favorite coffee mug, maybe the planter you’ve decided to plant with succulents because you’re busy and need plants that thrive on neglect. I hope that my work gets to be part of those tiny moments in your life, and can bring a little joy into the everyday.
