Set Fire To It is Ryanne Maldonado

I was drawn to pottery as a tangible, physically demanding craft; to making objects that have both utility and beauty; and to having a reason to use a blowtorch on a semi-regular basis. The objects we use daily inevitably absorb our memories and sentiments. I hope that my work gets to be part of those tiny moments in your life, and can bring a little joy into the everyday. 

I’ve been making work since 2013 and working full time as a potter, teacher, and studio manager since 2016. I feel very lucky to get to do what I do for a living and am honored that I get to share my work and passion with folks in Chicago and beyond.
